Editorial policy: how we check every figure
Every amount, percentage and deadline on this site comes from a register, with an official source, a date checked and a review cycle. Here you can read how that register works, which checks stop a publication and what happens when you report an error.

Counted on every build of the site, without the old values a page deliberately shows for comparison.
The figures register
We never type an amount straight into a text. Every page has a register of its figures. For each figure it holds the value, the source with name and link, the date we checked the value at that source and the review cycle. Where it matters, it also states from when or until when the figure applies.
The text takes the number from that register. If it changes there, it changes on every page that uses it. When the same figure appears on several pages, the copy points to its origin: 1,308 figures on this site are such a copy.
If a source is not clear-cut, the figure gets the status to be reviewed until we check it again. Such a figure is left out of a page's sources block, and the key figures, the questions, the solutions and the regional pages refuse it.
When we review a figure
- With a change in the law4,853
- Every year1,380
- With every indexation1,201
- Every month181
- Every six months47
- When the source changes19
- With a new collective agreement6
Three watchers
Besides the check at every review, three scripts in this site's code help keep the register current. What they find is checked by a person before anything changes on the site.
- 01
Figures watch
Lists every figure that expires within 45 days or is due for review under its cycle. We then open the source, check the value and set the date checked to the day of that check.
- 02
Pay scale watch
Compares the pay scale pages with the minimum wage database of FPS Employment. If something has changed, such as an indexation, a new collective agreement or a committee that disappears, it prepares the new data with a summary. We do not show a pay scale the FPS has not updated for more than 15 months. 113 joint committees now have a pay scale page, last updated on 18 October 2026.
- 03
News watch
Checks 9 channels of official sources for anything new: the NSSO, FPS Employment, the National Labour Council, Statbel, the Federal Planning Bureau, the NEO and FPS Finance. A message only becomes a news item if it makes an employer do or pay something.
Checks that stop a publication
This site is built first and published afterwards. On every build, checks stop the build if something is wrong. Nothing changes online until it is fixed.
- A copied figure differs from its origin, or a figure lacks a label in one of the four languages.
- A key figure has expired, is up for review, is an old value or has no official source.
- A figure on a question, solution or regional page has no checked official source.
- A downloadable template differs from the figures in the articles.
- An image has no description in the language of the page.
Before a new article goes online, a separate check verifies that every figure in the text points to the register and that every register line has a source, a date checked and a review cycle.
Reporting and correcting an error
Below every content page is the link Let us know. It opens our contact form with the page already filled in. Tell us what you think is wrong and, if you have it, the source.
We check every report against the official source. If it is right, we correct the page and update the date of the last check. A company that sees an incorrect or outdated detail about itself can report it the same way.
What we do not publish
- A legal figure without a source
- Every amount, percentage and deadline from the regulations has a source. We recalculate worked examples; they are marked as examples in the register.
- Anything about another company it does not publish itself
- About other social secretariats and providers we only write what they publish themselves, with a link and the date we checked it.
- An announcement as a rule in force
- A measure not yet published in the Belgian Official Gazette is described as an announcement, not as a rule that already applies.
- Doubt without saying so
- If an amount only comes from a sector agreement not yet officially published, we say so in the text.
- Our own rates
- Business Centrum does not publish rates for its services. You receive a price in a quote, after a conversation about your situation.
