When the inspectors call or write
Social inspection check: we get your documents ready
During a social inspection check, the inspector compares who is working with your Dimona declarations and asks for your work rules, schedules, contracts and payroll documents. Business Centrum makes sure those documents are right before anyone knocks, and puts them together with you if the inspectors have already written or visited.
What the social inspection looks at during a check
The Supervision of Social Laws looks at working time and pay, the NSSO inspection at returns and contributions. These points often come back:
How a check works and what your rights are during the interview is explained in our article on the labour inspectorate in Ghent.
Who is at work
The inspector notes who is working and compares it with your Dimona declarations. An employee without a Dimona is a level 4 offence: € 3,000 to € 35,000 administrative fine per employee. That is why we file every Dimona before the start.
Schedules and work rules
The schedules on the shop floor must match your work rules. For part-timers on a variable schedule, you announce the schedule in advance.
Pay under your joint committee
The wage scale, bonuses and indexation of your joint committee, and wages paid on time.
Social documents
Individual accounts, payslips and contracts, also for students and flexi-jobbers. You keep them for 5 years.

After the check: what can follow
The inspector decides how to respond. There are three options:
Where your risk lies today, you see in a few minutes with our compliance check.
Advice or a warning
A remark for the future.
A deadline to put things right
For example paying wage arrears or changing a schedule.
An official report
A letter from the Administrative Fines Directorate may then follow. You have 30 days to submit your defence. The current amounts are in our news item on the Social Criminal Code.

Social inspection check: frequently asked questions
Can the social inspection come without notice?
Yes, any workplace, day or night. An inhabited space, such as your home above the business, only with your prior written consent or a warrant from the investigating judge.
Which documents does the social inspection ask for?
Among others your work rules with the schedules, the contracts, the individual accounts and payslips, proof of your Dimonas and, where compulsory, the attendance registration.
Does a check always lead to a fine?
No, but nobody can rule it out. The inspector can also give advice, a warning or a deadline. If there is an official report, you submit a defence before anyone decides on a fine.
Does Business Centrum also help if the check has already been announced?
Yes. Call us with the letter at hand. We look at which documents are requested, gather them with you and prepare the interview.
