A Liantis alternative is any of the other 25 recognised social secretariats, or a social bureau that works with one of them. Liantis vs Acerta? Through Business Centrum in Ghent you choose Acerta without doing the work yourself: you get one fixed contact and Acerta files the returns.
Liantis in brief
Liantis is recognised as a social secretariat under number 510. According to its own website, consulted on 7 October 2026:
- 76,113 employers rely on Liantis, and Liantis supports more than 44,000 of them every day as a social secretariat;
- Liantis has 60 offices for all its services, including Ghent;
- the price consists of a joining fee, a fixed monthly price and a fixed price per pay calculation per employee, and first-line legal advice is included;
- employer and employees work with the HR app Lia+;
- the group also provides an external prevention service, a social insurance fund and a business one-stop shop.
Liantis is one of the few large secretariats that describes its pricing model publicly. These figures come from Liantis itself and no authority has checked them.
Sociaal bureau Liantis: where does the name come from?
If you search for sociaal bureau Liantis, often with a West Flemish town added, you are searching for a name that officially no longer exists. Liantis writes that ADMB Sociaal Bureau was founded in 1942 and has been part of Liantis since 10 September 2018, as Liantis social secretariat.
The office that used to be called the sociaal bureau is therefore today an office of a large social secretariat. A social bureau in today's sense is something else: a local office that takes over your administration and is not a social secretariat itself. The difference is explained in our guide social bureau.
Why does an SME look for a Liantis alternative?
Liantis bundles many services and publishes clear prices. So an SME rarely looks for an alternative because something goes wrong. Typical reasons:
- You no longer want to keep an app up to date. An HR app is handy, but whoever uses it does part of the work themselves.
- You want a person who carries out the work. Advice on what you should do is different from someone who does it for you.
- You are in East Flanders and want an office nearby. One fixed person in Ghent whom you can visit.
- Your price grows with every payslip. With a price per pay calculation per employee, the bill rises with every hire. A new quotation puts that in perspective.
- Your contract is ending. A natural moment to compare.
So you choose a Liantis alternative on the way of working you want: yourself in an app, or someone who does it for you. Put a yearly price for your actual staff next to it, and you see straight away what each choice costs you.

The statutory core is the same: Dimona, DmfA, collection of contributions and social documents, through a recognised secretariat under NSSO supervision. The difference is who does the work and whom you call. Want to see Liantis and Acerta next to SD Worx, Securex and Partena as well? Read Acerta, SD Worx, Securex, Liantis or Partena: the differences.
Liantis vs Acerta: comparing the price fairly
Liantis charges in three parts, other providers with a tailored quotation. To put them side by side, it is best to calculate per year:
- Count your payslips over twelve months. Include permanent staff, students and flexi-jobbers, and your busiest months.
- Ask both for a yearly price for exactly that staff, with the joining fee and the services billed separately.
- Add your own time. How many hours a month do you now spend entering hours, approving leave and answering questions? With a social bureau, most of that work leaves your desk.
- Look at what you get on top. Legal advice, contracts, Dimona and one fixed person: is it in the price, or billed separately?
That way you compare what you really pay, in money and in time. How the price of a social secretariat is built up in general is explained in our guide on the costs of a social secretariat.
Your other Liantis services when you switch
Liantis is a group, and many employers have more than one contract there.
- The external prevention service is a separate open-ended agreement. Ending it requires at least 6 months' notice, starting on the first day of the month after the notice. You can keep that service, even if you change secretariat. More in our guide on the external prevention service.
- The social insurance fund for your own status as a company director is separate from the payroll administration of your employees.
- The business one-stop shop is your free choice, for every registration or change in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises.
List all contracts before you give notice. That way you only end what you really want to stop.
Leaving Liantis and switching
- Read your contract. Look for the notice period, the date by which you can give notice, the form of notice and fees for the transfer or an early exit.
- Choose the start of a quarter. A mandate with the NSSO only passes over on 1 January, 1 April, 1 July or 1 October. The turn of the year keeps the individual account and the tax forms simplest.
- Give notice as the contract requires, usually by registered letter, and state exactly which contract you are ending.
- Have the new mandate registered in Mahis, the NSSO application. That can still be done for that quarter up to 1 month after it starts.
- Agree on the last DmfA. Usually Liantis still files the DmfA for its last quarter, within 1 month after that quarter.
- Have the file transferred, with staff data, contracts, leave balances and the individual account.
Through Business Centrum we handle the contact with Liantis and the transfer of the files. You sign a single mandate. All deadlines are in changing social secretariat.
What Business Centrum does for you
You send the hours, we do the rest. That means:
- No app to keep up to date. You send hours, overtime and absences by email or form.
- Payroll done every month, with Dimona, leave and contracts included.
- Your joint committee applied correctly, with your sector's bonuses and indexation.
- One fixed person in Ghent who knows your file and whom you call or email directly.
- Acerta behind it as the social secretariat, filing the returns and collecting the contributions.
How that works task by task is set out in Acerta or Business Centrum.
