Part-time contract schedule clause template: fixed or variable hours

A part-time employment contract is put in writing for each employee, no later than the first working day, with the weekly working hours and the schedule. These two template clauses fill in that article: a fixed schedule in a table, or a variable schedule within the framework in your work rules. They are in Dutch and French.

Which schedule clause do you choose for a part-time contract?

If the employee works the same days and hours every week, use the fixed schedule. If the hours vary, use the variable one: your work rules must then contain a framework, and you notify the schedule at least 7 working days in advance with a written, dated notice. Since 1 June 2026 working hours must be at least 1/10 of a full-time week.

How to fill in the schedule clause of the part-time contract

    Replace the hours of the example with those of the employee. Each work period in principle lasts at least 3 hours.

  2. 2

    For a variable schedule, fill in the number of the article in your work rules with the framework for variable part-time schedules.

  3. 3

    Have the employee sign the contract before the first shift, not during it, and keep a copy with the work rules.

  4. 4

    Without a written contract, the employee may choose the part-time arrangement and schedule most favourable to them, from those in your business.

De werknemer wordt tewerkgesteld in een deeltijdse arbeidsregeling van gemiddeld [bv. 20] uur per week, te respecteren over een referteperiode van drie maanden. Het werkrooster is variabel en wordt vastgesteld volgens artikel [nr.] van het arbeidsreglement. De werknemer krijgt zijn individuele rooster via een schriftelijk en gedateerd bericht, binnen de termijn die het arbeidsreglement bepaalt.
