No, eco vouchers have not been abolished nationally in Belgium in 2026. The National Labour Council scheme still exists, with a maximum of € 250 per employee per year, and a new product list has even applied since 1 June 2026. Construction (JC 124) did stop, and electricians (JSC 149.01) choose company by company.
Are eco vouchers being abolished? Not nationally
The 2025 federal coalition agreement announced that the eco voucher would eventually disappear, alongside other vouchers, and that the meal voucher would grow. That is where the idea comes from that eco vouchers are "abolished". On 1 October 2026 there is no act or royal decree that removes them.
The rules are unchanged. An eco voucher is worth at most € 10, you give at most € 250 per employee per calendar year, and the benefit is free of NSSO contributions and tax as long as you meet the conditions. The obligation to give eco vouchers never comes from the law itself, but always from a sector agreement, a company agreement or an individual agreement. If your sector agreement still stands, you must keep giving them.
Are eco vouchers mandatory in 2026? The position per joint committee
The FPS Employment overview, updated on 28 September 2026, gives this position for the sectors of our clients.

| JC 124 construction | Stopped after 31 March 2026, replaced by meal vouchers | Last time € 115 |
| JSC 140.03 road haulage | Non-driving staff: continue, new agreement from 1 January 2026; drivers: no sector eco vouchers | € 200 |

| JC 200 white-collar | Continue | € 250 |

The rules for white-collar staff are in our guide to joint committee 200.
What replaced eco vouchers in construction in 2026?
In construction, the agreement of 19 March 2026 ended the sector eco vouchers on 31 March 2026. You gave € 115 one last time for the reference period starting 1 April 2025, payable in 05/2026. Since 1 April 2026 workers no longer build up new eco voucher rights and the meal voucher is mandatory. Since 1 July 2026 you pay at least € 2 per day worked. All amounts are in our guide to joint committee 124.
Electricians: eco vouchers or a higher meal voucher
In JSC 149.01, the sector agreement of 11 February 2026 (national agreement 2025-2026) sets two scenarios from 1 October 2026. In scenario 1 the employer's share of the meal voucher rises by € 2, or you introduce meal vouchers with that employer share, and the eco vouchers end. In scenario 2 it rises by € 1 and the eco vouchers stay. The employer chooses after consulting the union delegation; without a choice by 30 September 2026, scenario 2 applies. The FPS Employment overview of eco vouchers does not yet reflect this agreement and still shows € 250 for 149.01 in 2026. The calculation per scenario is in our guide to joint subcommittee 149.01.
That choice is possible because the meal voucher may be larger since 2026: the employer's share can go up to € 8.91, with an employee share of at least € 1.09. Together that is 10 euros per voucher.
What did change: the new list of 1 June 2026
On 24 February 2026 the social partners concluded collective bargaining agreement (CBA) No. 98/12 in the National Labour Council. It replaces the list of products and services that employees may buy with eco vouchers, from 1 June 2026. The list remains exhaustive and has four groups: eco-friendly products and services, sustainable mobility and leisure, reuse and recycling, and short supply chains. The section on energy-efficient electrical appliances was revised based on what Belgian shops sell per energy class. For you as an employer, nothing changes in how you award them.
What Business Centrum does for you
Business Centrum tracks per joint committee whether and how many eco vouchers you must give, and processes them in your payroll, together with Acerta, with the right amount per working pattern. If your sector stops or you choose another benefit, we record the switch to meal vouchers correctly on the payslip, including the new maximum meal voucher of 10 euros.
