The leave calendar for Belgium in 2027 lists every day off next year: the 10 public holidays for all sectors and, for construction, the replacement days, the 12 rest days and your province's recommended construction holiday. Leave calendar Belgium 2027: which calendar is yours?

Each calendar only contains dates set in law, a collective agreement or a royal decree, or officially recommended by the regional social partners in construction. Choose one with this decision guide.

The public holidays in the 2027 leave calendar

These ten days apply to every employee in every sector. In 2027, 3 fall on a Saturday or Sunday.

A public holiday on a Saturday or Sunday is replaced by an ordinary working day, if that day is a normal day of inactivity in your company. Who picks that day depends on your sector: a joint committee decision comes first, then the works council, the union delegation or the employees. A sector had to notify the minister of its 2027 decision before 1 October 2026. The "All sectors" calendar contains the ten holidays without replacement days: you fix those yourself, unless your sector did. The construction calendars do contain the replacement days, because a royal decree sets them.

Construction leave calendar 2027: rest days and replacement days

In construction (JC 124) three kinds of days are fixed. They apply to every blue-collar worker, and you may not deviate from them.

Regime A applies to sites in the Flemish Region and the German-speaking Community, regime B in the Walloon Region. For a site in Brussels you choose. If you want the other regime, you conclude an agreement with the union delegation by 1 December 2026; without a delegation you decide yourself and post the decision before 15 December 2026. The construction holiday by province in the 2027 leave calendar

The summer holiday in construction is not in any collective agreement. Employer and employee organisations agree it per province as a recommendation. On 25 October 2026 these recommendations for 2027 were known:

Each arrangement adds up to the 20 statutory holiday days of a full-time worker in a five-day week; 21 July is a public holiday and does not count as a holiday day. In the province of Antwerp a subsidiary recommendation exists next to the main one, with a summer closure until 23 July 2027; in case of disagreement within a company the main recommendation applies. West Flanders gives three alternative proposals next to the recommendation.

A recommendation does not bind your company automatically. The holiday rules set the order: a joint committee decision, which the minister must receive by 31 December 2026 at the latest; otherwise the works council; otherwise an agreement with the union delegation or the employees; otherwise an arrangement per employee. An employee is entitled to 2 weeks of uninterrupted holiday between 1 May and 31 October, unless they ask otherwise. How many holiday days your staff have is in annual leave Belgium 2027.

Adding the leave calendar to your agenda

Each calendar exists as an .ics file, the standard for calendars. The days appear as all-day events, with the type and the source in the description.

1. Outlook. Open the file with a double click, or choose Add calendar and then Upload from file. Outlook creates a separate calendar that you can show or hide next to your own.
2. Google Calendar. Go to Settings, Import and export, choose the file and the calendar the days should go into. Preferably create a separate "Leave calendar 2027" first, so you can delete it in one go later.
3. Apple Calendar. Open the file on your Mac, iPhone or iPad and choose the calendar it should go into.

Share the file with your team leaders and accountant, or post the PDF in the canteen and with the work rules. We incorporate changes in an official source into the file; whoever downloads it again has the new version.

What you arrange with the 2027 leave calendar before 15 December

1. Choose your calendar with the decision guide above.
2. Fix the replacement days if your sector did not, and post the notice before 15 December 2026. Attach a copy to the work rules.
3. In construction: decide on the regime before 1 December 2026 if you want to switch regime or are based in Brussels, and post the decision before 15 December 2026.
4. Fix the collective holiday, following the recommendation or with your own dates, in the way the holiday rules require.
5. Update the work rules. If you change them, employees have 15 days to comment. How that works is in work rules.
6. Plan your staff's leave around the fixed days. If an employee asks for leave on a busy day, see what is allowed in can an employer refuse holiday.

Electricians (JSC 149.01) also have twelve compensatory rest days, unless the company applies an effective 38-hour week; their dates are set per company, so they are not in these calendars.
